Jesse, our Lady Gouldian finch, passed on June 26th. We named him Jesse Pryde because of his beautifully colored feathers. And it just happened that June 26th was San Francisco Pride Day.

Lovely, vibrant feathers!

We got Jesse five years ago. He was such a sweet bird who loved to cuddle with Dan and Serena, the society finches. They were a funny little trio. In time Dan and Serena passed and in came Sam and Dean. Unfortunately, these society finches did not share the same affection as Dan and Serena had for him, so poor Jesse was left without any mates. Jesse was aloof toward Olive the canary.

Well, I hope that Jesse finds his buddies Dan and Serena and may their spirits soar and chirp happily in the hereafter.
